Materiality threshold

NJ School Data corrects material errors that change the meaning of published data. Spelling, grammatical, formatting, and accessibility fixes that do not alter what the data says or means are corrected in place without a public correction notice.

A material correction includes:

• A parent-facing fact, comparison, or derived metric that was wrong
• A data value attributed to the wrong school, district, source, or year
• A chart, table, limitation, or action that materially changes the meaning of the evidence
• A source or vintage that was wrong, or a required source citation that was missing
• A conclusion that the cited evidence does not support

NJ School Data does not correct:

• Spelling, punctuation, or formatting that does not affect meaning
• Presentation changes (colors, fonts, layout) without a data change
• A good-faith difference of interpretation that does not identify a factual, source, limitation, or meaning error
• Changes to a school's own published materials or statements

What a correction notice contains

When a material correction is published, the notice preserves:

• Affected route — the specific page and data claim that was corrected
• Old meaning — what the data said or implied before the correction
• New meaning — what the data says after the correction
• Reason — why the error occurred (e.g., source data correction, calculation bug, misidentified entity)
• Source — the authoritative source that confirmed the correct value
• Date — when the correction was published and when the error was introduced, if known

Correction notices are kept indefinitely and are not removed after subsequent corrections.

How to report an error

If you believe a published value is materially incorrect, contact the site maintainer directly:

Please include the specific URL, the claim you believe is wrong, and any source that supports the correct value. Corrections are reviewed against the cited source for the affected page. Not all reported discrepancies are material errors; some reflect differences in how data is reported or categorized across sources.

Correction history

No material corrections have been published since this record began in July 2026. Minor in-place corrections to spelling, formatting, and presentation are made without notice and are visible in the Git history of the site repository.
