Find your district's budget first read
Search for a district and open its profile at the generated Budget first read. It maps four parent questions into the available evidence:
- What changed? Proposal and inflation-adjusted trend rows.
- Why might it matter? Payer, use, student, and service context.
- Is it common or unusual? Fair local peer comparisons.
- What should I check next? Proof links and overread warnings.

About the evidence
Statewide NJDOE User-Friendly Budget comparison data is current through 2025-26. Published comparative cost, proposed operating budget, planning enrollment, source rows, and inflation-adjusted movement answer different questions and are kept separate.
Some district profiles also include newer local board, news, or budget materials where they are available. Those local signals are labeled separately; they are not silently folded into the statewide NJDOE comparison.
These records are budget evidence, not audited actual spending, household tax bills, proof of service quality, or a diagnosis of district management. Read the source and methods · Report a correction
